【1:30-4:30】Presentation and Discussion

Topic 1:  Emerging Technologies & Trend: Cloud, Mobile, Big Data and Social Media

Presenter: Mr. Tang, EMC
The technology industry is undergoing a disruptive transformation as it is shifting from the second to the third computing platform, centered around cloud, mobile, big data and social media. In this discussion, we plan to take a deep dive into a few emerging technologies that are underpinnings and enablers of this epic transformation.
• Hyper converged infrastructure and cloud storage
• Disruptive new storage media
• Virtualization and containerization
The innovative tech companies are quickly adopting and leveraging these technologies. They are creating new types of products and services that are threatening the traditional tech industry. The speaker will share his personal observations and humble prediction of the industry trends around these technologies

Topic 2. How to Sell Hi-Tech?

Presenter: Mr. Li, Kaminario
Mr. Rob Li has worked in high tech hardware sales for over 10 years. He currently works at an Israeli storage startup Kaminario as their Technology Evangelist. Prior to Kaminario, Mr. Li built a successful sales engineer career at 3PAR (later acquired by HP), and Pure Storage.

His will share his personal growth in professional selling: from selling $60 children's books and Bibles in the Ozark Mountains, to selling multi-million dollar high tech hardware to Fortune 1000 enterprises.

Topic 3. A Sample Marketing Analysis Project Using R: Who are likely to buy insurance?

Presenter: Mr. Zhang (recently finished PhD in Physics from Tufts University)

Summary: Who are likely to buy the insurance? (A project using R)

My name is Yuji Zhang. I recently finished Ph.D. in physics at Tufts University where I did experiments and simulations of optical waves. I'm interested in data science and assigned myself this project. The data has several dozens of predictors, several thousands of examples. The response is whether each example/person bought the insurance, and the ratio of positive examples (those bought the insurance) is about 5%. The goal is to model who are likely to buy the insurance to help targeted marketing and maximize revenue. I mainly tried logistic regression, tree-based classifications. It's my pleasure to share the process and results with everybody, and I'd love to get some feedback and suggestions.

Topic 4. Introduction to Enterprise Architecture and Career Path

Presenter: Mr. Zhu, Enterprise Solution Architect at CVS Health
Summary: Share my personal view and experience around architecture for enterprise.
